On Thursday, October 8th, volunteers from the New Hartford Fire Department visited Myles School to provide students in Pre-K through sixth grade with an engaging, hands-on fire safety presentation. Students participated in a home escape drill using a simulated room, learned about important fire safety procedures, and had the opportunity to explore firefighting equipment and ask questions about fire safety in the home.
This age-appropriate experience helped reinforce the importance of being prepared for emergencies and knowing what to do to stay safe. A big thank you to the New Hartford Fire Department and the Myles PTA for organizing and supporting this valuable learning opportunity for our students!

On Thursday, September 24th the combined High School and Perry Latin clubs went to see 'The Odyssey' at Marquee Cinemas.
Twenty-four students, from 7th to 11th grade, two parent chaperones, and their teacher Mrs. Finlayson attended a showing of the movie from 4:40pm to 7:40pm.
They thoroughly enjoyed the movie from holding hands in terror during the cyclops attack to cheering on Odysseus as he took on the suitors. The movie expertly portrayed much of the story authentically in a compelling way that led to great conversations about serious topics still affecting society today.

New Hartford Senior Leah Ingersoll Received the John Murphy Music Scholarship Performance Award from New Hartford Rotary. She was chosen from a pool of applicants throughout Oneida County. The panel of judges based their selection on music excellence and service to community.
On June 10th, Kaitryn Pelnik-Wadsworth was honored at Carnegie Hall in New York City for her architectural drawing, Bristol Center - Guest Rooms- Hamilton College.
Kaitryn received a National Scholastic Art & Writing Gold Medal for her amazing work, and was invited to attend a multi-day event in New York City along with the other Gold Medal winners. Of the 335,000 Scholastic Art entries from around the country, only 600 earned Gold Medals and were invited to Carnegie Hall for the ceremony. That puts Kaitryn in elite company; less than .5% of entries are awarded this top honor! Kaitryn and her AP Art teacher, Mr. Vaughn, were fortunate to make the trip to be a part of this inspiring event in celebration of the Arts!

On Saturday, May 16th at the Liverpool Invite, Ashlee Fisher set a new school record in the 400-meter dash in 57.68 seconds breaking a record set back in 1988 of 58.20.
🔥⚡️She also set a new record in the 200m race with a time of 26.12 that she already broke the record for earlier this season. 💥

"Fifth Grader, Mikey Butler, has become New York’s first-ever two-time Trinity Award winner in youth wrestling—one of the sport’s most difficult and prestigious accomplishments. He secured this milestone by winning Reno Worlds in Reno, NV this past weekend, capturing the final piece needed to earn the Trinity. Reno Worlds featured elite competition from nearly all 50 states, as well as international athletes from Spain, Tokyo, Russia, Japan, and Italy.
The Trinity Award, presented by World of Wrestling, is earned only by wrestlers who win all three of the nation’s most competitive youth tournaments in a single season: Tulsa Nationals, Reno Worlds, and the WOW Kickoff Classic. Winning just one of these events is a major feat—winning all three in the same year requires an exceptional level of skill, consistency, and mental toughness.
To put this into perspective, only five youth wrestlers from New York have ever won the Trinity Award even once. Mikey has now done it twice—setting himself apart not just in our state, but across the entire country.
In addition to this milestone, Mikey is currently ranked #1 in the nation by World of Wrestling in his age and weight division (10U, 80 lbs), further solidifying his place among the elite young wrestlers in the United States."

The New Hartford Senior High School Club America group hosted a food drive for Feed Our Veterans from April 23–27 in the high school lobby. Throughout the week, club members engaged with students and faculty to collect a generous amount of food to support the Veterans Outreach Center in Utica.
Pictured are the club’s officers alongside several veterans at the center. The experience was both meaningful and educational for everyone involved, and the club looks forward to continuing its efforts to support local veterans through future food drives.

New Hartford Pride: Alexandria French Appointed to West Point
We are incredibly proud to celebrate a historic milestone for one of our own. New Hartford student Alexandria French has received an appointment to the United States Military Academy at West Point, marking a monumental achievement for both Alexandria and our entire school community.
A Premier Distinction
Alexandria’s path to the Academy is marked by an exceptional level of merit. Out of a highly competitive pool of applicants, she was selected as Congressman Mannion’s Principal Nominee, the highest recommendation a candidate can receive from their congressional representative.
The road to West Point is famously rigorous:
Selective Admissions: Approximately 13,000 students apply annually.
Elite Cohort: Only about 1,200 applicants are accepted into the incoming class.
