Last week, construction began in the Perry Junior High School cafeteria and life skills wing as part of the ongoing capital improvement project work.
The cafeteria, which is temporarily closed to students, will be renovated to include upgrades and improvements such as:
- Kitchen equipment replacement
- Exterior wall replacement
- Interior wall and floor replacement
To ensure students continue to have access to school meals during the cafeteria construction, to-go breakfast and lunch is available to Perry students for the remainder of the year. Alternate dining accommodations have also been arranged in the gymnasium and outdoors.
Cafeteria renovations are expected to be completed this summer with the cafeteria reopening to students at the start of the 2025-26 school year.
In the last week, crews removed all of the old kitchen equipment, began constructing the new exterior wall, completed interior block wall demolition, placed rooftop curbs (supporting mounts for rooftop equipment), and continue to work on the installation of new plumbing, electrical and heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) lines and equipment.

Construction at Perry remains on schedule and most of the work is expected to be completed by the end of February 2026.
