New Hartford Central School District students are making a meaningful impact in their community and earning recognition for their leadership and service.
Senior Grace Ruganis and Junior Anya Martyniuk were honored for their outstanding leadership at the Sixth Annual Oneida County Youth Bureau Youth/Adult Award Recognition Ceremony. They received awards in the Exceptional Leadership category, standing out among their peers throughout Oneida County for their dedication to their school and community.

The Oneida County Youth Bureau convened a panel of judges to review all nominations, which were submitted anonymously. The judging process was conducted blindly, ensuring that the judges were unaware of the students’ names or the schools they attended.
Susan Mojave, Theater Manager of the Dr. James A. Meyer Performing Arts Center, submitted the nomination, noting, “These students exemplify what it means to be a leader. Their dedication, drive, and commitment to helping others set a strong example for their peers and demonstrate the power of positive influence.”
The award ceremony took place on June 5 at Mohawk Valley Community College (MVCC) Utica campus, where students, educators, and community members gathered to celebrate the achievements of local youth leaders.
“Anya and Grace give back and make a difference not for recognition, but because it’s simply who they are,” stated Mohave. “This recognition highlights the positive impact they’ve made in our school and community.”
New Hartford Central School District proudly recognizes Ruganis and Martyniuk for their remarkable contributions, exemplifying the values of leadership, service, and positive influence in their school and beyond.
