New Hartford voters approve $67.7 million budget; elect one board member

On May 20, New Hartford Central School District voters approved the district’s $67,724,281 2025-26 budget proposal, approved the purchase of five new diesel school buses and elected one board of education member.

Propositions

The following results include absentee ballots.

School budget

The $67.7 million budget proposition for the 2025-26 school year, which carries a 3.26% tax levy increase, passed with 69.7% voter approval: 953 yes votes and 415 no votes.

School bus purchases

The school bus proposition to purchase five new diesel school buses at a total cost not to exceed $700,000 passed: 954 yes votes and 407 no votes.

Board of education election

One candidate was elected to one open board of education seat.

JP Kidwell: 599 votes
Shahida Dar: 465 votes
Brian Connery: 279 votes

The term is five years and begins July 1.
