New Hartford Senior High was awarded the 2016 National Blue Ribbon. Ralph Perry Junior High earned recognition as a "Blue Ribbon School" in 2008. Then Superintendent Daniel P. Gilligan told the Utica Observer-Dispatch that the award was “more or less a confirmation of something we’ve known for a long time, and that is our schools perform at the highest levels.”

The US Department of Education awards “Blue Ribbons” to the nation’s top performing schools each year.  It is the highest honor the federal government can bestow on an individual school or school district.
