New Hartford Senior High was awarded the 2016 National Blue Ribbon. Ralph Perry Junior High earned recognition as a "Blue Ribbon School" in 2008. Then Superintendent Daniel P. Gilligan told the Utica Observer-Dispatch that the award was “more or less a confirmation of something we’ve known for a long time, and that is our schools perform at the highest levels.”

The US Department of Education awards “Blue Ribbons” to the nation’s top-performing schools each year.  It is the highest honor the federal government can bestow on an individual school or school district.
