My name is Bethany Turo.
I was born and raised in the Utica area.
My family and I moved to the Syracuse area when I was in 9th grade,
and I graduated from F-M.
I attended college in the Albany area and IN SPAIN!
I earned my bachelor's degree in Spanish and Secondary Education with an Art minor from Russell Sage College.
My first master's degree is from New York University in Hispanic Languages and Culture.
My most recent degree (a second master's degree) was an online endeavour from
American College of Education,
and is a master's of education in Bilingual and English as a Second Language.
I have been a teacher in New York (in the Albany area and the Syracuse area)
and in California (in San Francisco, Sonoma County, and Lake County).
During the years I have primarily taught Spanish
but have also taught English as a New Language and French.
I am arriving at Perry Junior High
after having spent the past 15 years in Northern California.
My two beautiful little girls and I moved across the country
with our two cats in June during COVID.
We are all (well, maybe not the cats!) very excited to be able to call Central New York home.
Previously, CNY was "just" a place we visited every summer of my daughters' lives
to connect with friends, family, and all that CNY has to offer!
(I am sure that you will see pictures of my girls, myself, and our adventures in class,
but on this public access page I will share a picture of our cats!)
"Girl" is the calico and "Boy" is the mostly black cat.
