Mr. Ripa reinstated as Junior High PrincipalNovember 17, 2016
Dear Members of the New Hartford School Family:
On November 15, 2016, the computer trespassing case brought against Perry Junior High School Principal Riccardo Ripa was dismissed in Rome City Court. This firm decision marks the end of a brief chapter in Mr. Ripa’s otherwise long and unblemished career as a dedicated educator.
As part of his agreement with the District Attorney’s Office, Mr. Ripa agreed to make a $500 donation to the New Hartford Summer Youth Playground Program. Members of our school community may already be aware that the events that allegedly occurred in Rome this past summer did not involve the New Hartford Central School District or any New Hartford students. Nonetheless, Mr. Ripa was placed on leave to allow for a full and final resolution of this matter before a return to his position at Perry Junior High.
In light of the above facts, the Board of Education welcomed and approved a resolution to end Mr. Ripa’s administrative leave, voting unanimously to reinstate him to his position during its regular meeting on November 15, 2016. Mr. Ripa’s reinstatement is effective November 21, 2016. As of that date, Perry Junior High will once more benefit from Mr. Ripa’s leadership and experience. He will carry on our commitment to excellence, and help provide the best education for our students.
As Mr. Ripa resumes his duties, please join me in expressing our gratitude to Mr. Richard Hunt for his service to our students and faculty. Mr. Hunt has continued to be a wise and steady presence during eras of transition in our district, and we wish him well during the next part of his journey in education.
While we greet the joy and blessing of the winter holiday season, I’m delighted to announce that Mr. Riccardo Ripa will be back as Principal of our beloved Perry Junior High school, returning with the full confidence and support of the school community.
Robert J. Nole
