Mrs. Morris

Welcome to kindergarten!  I grew up in Madison, Wisconsin and come from a family of educators.  I was fortunate to have both of my parents as my high school teachers, which is a big part of my inspiration to make a difference in the lives of children.  After I graduated from college, I moved to Florida and then to North Carolina where I taught educational classes, managed community programs and worked closely with children and families.  My husband and I moved to Ilion, New York in 2005 so that we could raise our children close to family.  At this time, I was able to stay home and raise my two boys, Caden 9 and Jake 7.  While I was home with my boys, I went back to school to pursue my passion for teaching and earned a dual masters degree in Childhood Education and Special Education.  After that, I taught literacy in Ilion for two years before I joined the amazing Myles team.  This is now my third year teaching kindergarten at Myles and I absolutely love the enthusiasm, creativity and energy of this age group.  I believe that all children excel with high expectations and at this age, a lot of movement!  My goal is to instill the love of learning by making learning fun!  I feel so lucky to be a part of your child's growth and development and I can't wait to get to know each student better every day!

Outside of school, I am extremely active with my boys and their sports.  I have a very naughty but of course loveable puppy named CJ (short for Caden and Jake).  He is a Portuguese Water Dog as well as a chew everything insight dog!  In my free time, I love to take walks with my puppy, read with my boys, watch movies with my husband and yeah I'll admit - shopping can be pretty fun too!

This year you will truly be amazed as you watch your child blossom into a confident young student and I am so privileged to take this journey with you!
