Students come to ESL class and receive instruction every day for one period of 40 minutes or two periods for a total of 72 minutes depending on their proficiency level and the amount of support that they need.
Myles has "blocked" 40 minute periods for each grade level throughout the day. Most of the students who go to special area classes and receive instructional support will be out of the classroom at the same time. During this special "blocked" time, no new instruction will take place in the classroom to ensure that students in special area classes do not miss new topics being taught. I do my best to schedule most ESL classes during the grade level block times.
Some of my schedule includes 'pushing-in' to students' classrooms to provide extra support with language skills and classroom learning.
