1. Almanacs (1)
An almanac can be used to find all kinds of information and facts. It can tell you who won the Miss America Pageant in 1971 or even how much the Liberty Bell weighs.
2. Atlases (1)
An atlas is simply a collection of maps.
3. Dictionaries (2)
A dictionary not only gives you the definition of a word, but it also tells you how to pronounce the word and what part of speech the word comes from.
4. Encyclopedias (6)
An encyclopedia is a collection of short articles filled with information on just about anything you can think of!
5. Thesauruses (1)
A thesaurus is set up like a dictionary, but it gives synonyms and antonyms for words.
6. Zip Codes and Area Codes (2)
7. Articles from Newspapers and Magazines (2)
8. Subject Directories (3)
Use a subject directory when you are just beginning your search for information. They are maintained by real people and will give you fewer, but more appropriate "hits" for the information you are seeking.
9. Search Engines (1)
You might want to use one of these search engines for your next search. Remember to choose your key words carefully and put all phrases in "quotation marks" so the search engine knows to look for those words together! Keep in mind that a computer is searching for your key words- NOT a person.
